Community Planning

Community planning is the process through which public sector organisations work together and with local communities, the business and the voluntary sectors, to identify and solve local problems, improve services, and share resources.

MVA facilitates representation of the voluntary sector in the Community Planning process through the Voluntary Sector Forum (and sub-groups).

MVA represents the sector directly on the Midlothian Community Planning Partnership; Midlothian Community Health Partnership; and other relevant groups, and feeds to and from the Voluntary Sector Forum.

The Community Care Forum Development Worker facilitates representation of service users with regard to Community Care, and in particular, older people and people with disabilities.

Further information on Community Planning is available on the Community Toolkit.

Voluntary Sector Representation on Partnerships and Panels
MVA sought the views of the voluntary sector about the process for selecting voluntary sector representatives on partnerships and panels and the matter was discussed at the Voluntary Sector Forum meeting on 28 August.

Further to the VSF, Lesley Kelly drew up procedures for requesting voluntary sector representation on partnerships and panels, as agreed at the VSF meeting  These have have been circulated.    A copy is available to download from the Voluntary Sector Forum page.
